Found a baby in my driveway!

A friend of my brothers, came to our house with a tiny baby eastern painted turtle. He claimed he saw it in our driveway and he couldn't take it home. We lived close to a local pond that had lots of these little turtles, so I of course wanted him. We got it a tank and my mom insisted we had to return him to the pond in a few days. The turtle was very cool to watch and was easy to handle. One time, I went to school, and came home to check on my turtle and feed him (we were returning him this weekend), and I saw he wasn't in his tank! I was scared because I had a pretty fearless Bengal cat who was a natural hunter. Eventually we found the turtle; somehow this teeny tiny turtle escaped the aquarium and he was behind the bathroom garbage can. Needless to say, we took him to the pond that day. I don't know if my cat got to him or not, but obviously wasn't a great situation for a turtle!
