It took sometime but he eventually warmed up to people. At first he would see them and run away but after a while he would come up to them and look at them for a bit and then go back to relaxing. He absolutely loved being held and was actually hard to put back in his terrarium sometimes because he wouldn't let go of your hand. One of the best things about this breed is their very beautiful and vibrantly colored bellies which are a very gorgeous shade of blue. They can be pretty entertaining to watch when doing "push-ups". We only had him for about a year before he had died (we think it was an older lizard when we first caught it) but it was nice having him around while we did. Very easy to maintain and take care of as they are wild lizards and don't need all the amenities such as heat lamps and heat rocks like most other lizards. It is still a good idea to have them where they can get plenty of sunlight so they can warm up. I would not recommend this lizard to smaller children as they are very very fragile and can be easily injured.){kind=link}
. I saw him and just fell in love and picked him up and held him for a while. I held him in the palm of my hand against my stomach he was so small. Oddly enough that is actually how he loved to be held the entire time I owned him, as he grew he would still do his best to sit himself in my palm and when he reached full size it was more like he was sitting in my arm then my palm but that is what he liked. He got along with all of the other animals we had at the time including our 2 dogs and he never even tried to eat my fish. Was amazing with even strange people he would curiously walk up to them to check them out and then come sit back down in my lap. Was a very loving cat always loved to be near me and when I came home from school he would meow at me and jump into my arms from the couch and start purring. Great companion pet. We did not get him neutered so he eventually caved into his more primal instincts and ran away to be with the other neighborhood cats. His mother later had another litter of kittens which had a kitten that was almost identical to Rufus albeit with slightly smaller hair and a bigger white spot on the belly. He was just as loving and affectionate as Rufus I and loved everyone and all of our other pets. The only real difference they had personality-wise is where they liked to sleep, Rufus I liking to sleep between my legs and Rufus II liking to sleep on my back. A year or so later we had to move from our home and he had stowed away in one of the dressers. We put the dresser in the U-Haul and when we were taking the dresser back out an hour or so later we heard meowing and opened it. At first he was calm and fine but then when we went to go put him in the cab of the U-Haul he got scared and jumped out of the drawer and ran out of the U-Haul never to be seen again. All in all they may have ran away but they were wonderful pets. Very great companion pet and I loved them very very much. Pretty low maintenance and low cost the only real downside is litter box duties. I recommend these for any family and they can get along with other animals too.){kind=link}
