I'm currently going to college for veterinary technology. I have worked with a lot of animals and enjoyed each and every one of them! I'm looking forward to a future of working with many more animals so I can have many stories to tell.

 is a Red-Eared Slider that I have owned since I was a kid. Red-Eared Sliders in general are highly active turtles that love to hunt feeder fish and bathe on rocks or wood. Red-Eared Sliders are recognized by their trademark red "dash" near their ear area, just behind the eyes. They can also be recognized by the hexagon-shapes in their shells that alternate colors (Such as brown and black) in rings, similar to a tree. This is what my turtle looks like anyways.<br><br>Turtle is a graceful turtle to look at, and he is incredibly active. The trademark dash on his head and his shell are both shiny coated and easily noticeable. Many of my friends always like to look at him and watch him eat fish or turtle food pellets. I too enjoy it a lot, I have ever since I was a kid. When he chases fish, he never stops until it's good and gone.<br><br>Turtle does not like being handled sadly. Every time someone except for me puts their hand near him, he immediately withdraws everything into his shell as tightly as he can. Most turtles will naturally do this as turtles aren't domesticated (Officially at least).<br><br>Turtle, like most other turtles in general, are extremely easy to take care of. Weekly changing of the tanks (Monthly if you have a filter, or potentially even semi-monthly with an underground filter as well) and monitoring how much and what they eat are all you need to do to keep a turtle happy. Be sure that you don't flood the tank with water though, just enough to go underwater a bit, like a centimeter above their shell. This is a safe amount of water.<br><br>You only need to buy food for your turtle to keep it happy. Vet bills will also be minimal to nothing (Depending on how you keep your turtle).<br><br>Overall, a Red-Eared Slider is a majestic addition for a pet to any house for any family to enjoy. Keeping track of what it eats will help make their shells and skin shiny and smooth, and will provide enjoyment for your family for many years (Potentially over 30!)){kind=link}

Unfortunately, my parakeets are anything but that. Sunny and Axel are two peas in a pod when it comes to getting in trouble. But maybe their mischievous nature is what makes me like them so much.<br><br>Anyways, Sunny & Axel, like most parakeets, are highly active and love to play around. They always tinker with their toys in their bird cage and are always making noise. They make quite a lot of noise and then make even more noise. Did I mention they make noise? Yes, parakeets make quite a lot of noise! Opening your windows when birds are around make my parakeets make even more noise as they "talk" to the outside world.<br><br>Maintaining them couldn't be easier. Clean out their cage once a week, change the food and water daily, and your feathery buddies will be happy. Minimal vet bills since they are such a hardy breed also contribute to such a low cost, making parakeets great choices for if you're on a tight budget and want a pet that's both exotic and fun.<br><br>I don't know about other parakeets, but my parakeets are always tweeting and making noise whenever the family is around. But as soon as a stranger steps in the house, they act like they're statues. I have no idea why, but it's the funniest and cutest thing.<br><br>Overall, if you want very cheap pets to look after that will last a very long time, and have them properly maintained, Parakeets will be a great addition to any sized family and home. Just remember that Parakeets are social birds and should never be alone, always keep at least two or your parakeet will not really do much of anything!){kind=link}
