Lady Chickadee

I raise and breed various types of chickens. I started raising chickens back in April of 2011. I bought 9 chicks from my local feed store and decided to raise them for eggs. After a while I realized I had 3 cockerels. I got rid of them and was left with only 6 pullets. After doing a lot of research on chickens and looking at all the different breeds I decided to get more of a variety of breeds. The one that really caught my eye though was the d'Uccles. I decided that I wanted to breed d'Uccles. I bought 20 from a hatchery. I got 10 d'Uccles,5 silver laced wyandottes, and 5 easter eggers. I then decided that I wanted to have silkies to. I bought a couple from someone down the road from me.I knew one was a rooster and after a while I discovered the other one was to. I wanted to get some girls for those roosters so I bought more silkies. I soon wanted to show them and also breed silkies. I got rid of the ones that were bad quality and bought good quality ones. Soon I got interested in paint silkies and bought a trio of them. Someone locally was selling a pair of lavender orpingtons and I ended up buying those. I also got interested in cream legbars because they are beautiful and they lay a light blue colored egg. I got a chick pair from someone locally and now I'm buying even more cream legbars from people across the united states. I went from 9 to 50 chickens in less than a year. At first I wanted to raise them for eggs but now I've built breeding pens and coops and I'm showing and breeding them. I still have my layer chickens in my free range flock. I even have a website now: http://www.wix.com/chickensandchicks/cutecharmingcolorfulchickens
