I am 63 years old and have chickens a long time. As a child, my parents always had a flock of different breeds. This usually consisted of Barred Rocks, Rhode Island Red and Buff Orpington. The orpingtons always seemed to be one of the best layers and also excellent setters for raising the young to keep replacing our own birds. They are a very friendly, docile and beautiful breed. I recently acquired a pair of the imported English Blue Orpington. This girl started laying almost 2 weeks ago and has not missed a day up to this point. Right now I have a few chicks from the original Dr. Clevenger line that went to Bob Coulter then a lady in California got a few and has kept them pure since. This line goes back 60+ years. I am very proud and honored to have these coming on to start my flock of Buff Orpington. I do have a website if anyone want to see my birds that I'm going to be growing out 2012 and breeding these lines next year. This line lays a very nice size egg (large-xlarge) and are really nice size for a meat chicken.
