I'm an Alaskan girl living in Hawaii. I had a 1 acre farm back home, and as of a year ago I live on an 18 acre parcel on the Big Island. My homestead currently consists of about five acres of coffee, one acre of citrus, 1/2 acre of mixed produce, with banana and avocado trees littered throughout. As one might expect, a farm is not complete without livestock, animal companions and a family to tend to it.
Taking it back to basics; I have six children and one amazing husband. That's eight kids total if you count my two fur babies- Sadie my 7 year old AKC Rough Collie, and Sophie our 10 year old Himalayan cat. As our move to Hawaii is still so fresh, our expanding farm gaggle momentarily consists of Peking ducks, Rhode Island Reds and Plymouth Rock chickens. As a novelty we also have a Jackson Chameleon.
