Most of them look the same- making them very easy to recognize like you're an expert "ah yes, a cockatiel"- cause they're the typically yellow birds, sometimes with some gray, and they have red circles on their cheeks. Kinda cute, but after having a few of them, I'm not a fan. We had them when I was a teenager- two of them, Oscar and Emmy. They weren't super friendly, didn't bond with us- only with my dad, who doesn't really do pets or nurturing at all, which is funny, and kind of telling about these birds.<br><br>The birds hated the rest of the family, they bit our fingers and didn't like to be pet or held. Also they'd fly out of their cage and around the kitchen when we opened it to feed them.){kind=link}
. Mostly she enjoyed cuddling, but only on her time frame. A great pet for someone who wants a snuggly buddy, but isn't going to need too much affection!){kind=link}

We referred to her as one of our sisters. She was dumb as a post, never really did take to anything beyond "sit" and even that was a stretch, but she was small (under 20 pounds) and was only a minimal nuisance. Mostly she was a sweet companion, sort of like a relative that isn't terribly useful, doesn't have a job and kind of smells,but you still love them! We loved Snoopy. She loved to cuddle- she liked it when we sang or played instruments in the house, and she was independent enough that she didn't need constant attention. Her health remained pretty steady and she left us peacefully after 15 years.){kind=link}
