We owned and bred many Simmentals over about 15 years. They are relatively easy to handle for their size if handled a lot when young. They are very good mothers, very protective of their calves or any calf in the herd for that matter. Always fine with us handling their calves but do not believe they would allow someone they do not know to do so. Due to their large size they require quite a large amount of pasture, grain, and hay. The only drawback we had with this breed was uterus prolapsing during calving.
