Shetland Sheep are So Much Fun!

I really enjoy Shetland sheep. They are a miniature variety of sheep meaning that they don't come up above one's hips. They are a variety best known for their fleece quality. Their fleece is highly coveted among spinners, weavers, knitters etc. They are also a friendly variety of sheep. They enjoy being in mixed flocks and work well with people. Particularly, they do well with children!

Shetlands were my first breed of sheep. I raised them in high school for a 4-H project and really enjoyed working with them!

I would recommend them to anyone looking for a small, efficient breed of sheep. I would highly recommend them to families with young children and 4-Hers. They can be acquired for a reasonable price which is another bonus!
