We have hatched a number of Rouen ducks over the years. We have never tried Pekins, which are known as being exceptional meat ducks, but we have raised a few Rouens for our own freezer and are pleased with them. They easily gain weight on grass. We had them in a wire enclosure that we moved every day. They always had free choice duck food, as well as a huge tub of water. They eat much less concentrate feed when they have access to grass. They are slower moving, and a little less skittish than other ducks we have had. The males look great just after molting with their bright green heads.
