I only had the one female Rouen duck - which look identical to the mallard, except they are bigger - much bigger! As such, they can't fly (too heavy) and are more easily confined to the barnyard.
My Rouen was a good all-around duck. With her size, she would have been an excellent eating bird (though the pigmentation may limit the commercial value) and I believe she was a moderate egg-layer of blue eggs. (I'm remembering back to my high school years, here!)
She was a calm duck and would be a good choice for any barnyard or for a 4-H bird for the older (stronger) teen.
