I was attracted to Milking Shorthorns for their low average Somatic Cell Count and great feet and legs. Their color is also very unique compared to the other dairy breeds. They are either a deep mahogany red, red and white, or the less common roan.

Shorthorns usually have almost a 'puppy dog' personality and enjoy people. They are curious and interested in new things. They respect fences, but are the first to explore a new pasture area if it becomes available.
