A Jersey as a pet? Why not?

Lots of people own cattle for farm production! Not us...when I was growing up we had two or three jerseys at a time and they were mostly pets (or so my sister and I thought). We did not learn until years later that when we finally had a bull we ate Monty burgers.
Maria was a great pet for my sister and I and yes, we actually played with the cow. She was so tolerant of kids. In winter we used to grab onto her tail so she would run and drag us across the ice for a ride!
That being said, she did also provide us with milk that we drank and our mom made butter so really, we had the best of everything in her!
