Guineas are such a nice bird to have on the farm. Yes, they're quite noisy, and since they travel in flocks, they can leave quite a mess in their favorite spots, but they are superior foragers, and you're unlikely to find a single tick after a summer with guineas.
They're even almost pretty. If it weren't for the turkey-type heads, they could be a very ornamental bird, as their plumage is a lovely mottled gray and white.
Overall, I'd definitely recommend a small flock of guineas if you have a farm or even just a country homestead. They'll keep your place clean of ticks and--in a pinch--even a bit of meat.
