Raised Polled Dorsets as a kid. We showed in 4-H and open class at many fairs during my childhood. Dorsets were a gentle breed, great for kids to handle. My dad sheared sheep and my mom loved the Dorset wool for spinning, great crimp. The ewes consistantly lambed twins and were great mothers. Feed to meat ratio was wonderful, due to the free range-ability of the breed. The rams were only tempermental during breeding season. We routinely bred the ewes three times in 2 years, but changed to late spring lambing only because it was soooo much easier to lamb without worries of snow.
