My Donkey, Gypsey

I got my Donkey Gypsey from an animal rescue center while I lived in France. He was about two years old when I acquired him and he has lived happily in the French mountains with plenty of fields to roam about in. When I first got him he was very quiet and shy, but in time he became a lot more sociable, both with people and the other animals (horses, dogs, sheep etc)
Since we had a large area of land where we lived, he was easy to look after. His food and bedding was kept in his stable, but he was allowed to wander and forage for most of the day.
When we moved from France I had to give him to a friend (who was several Donkeys and Horses). I often keep in touch with her and she sends updates and the occasional pictures. Gypsey does very well with other animals and is always calm and well tempered.
I'd definitely recommend a Donkey for anyone who wishes to own a pet larger than a dog or a cat, and I actually preferred Gypsey over the few horses that I have owned in the past.
