Our dominique chickens have been a pleasure to own and work with. It is an excellent dual-purpose chicken. This chicken is considered to be one of the oldest breeds in America. Here in South Carolina, this chicken tolerates the heat very well, and also does an excellent job during the winter without any additional heat in the coop. It is a very good forager, however, in our experience, it generally isn't prone to broodiness. It carries a smaller carcass than many chickens on the market today, but the beat is nice and firm and very flavorful. I would recommend this chicken for anyone who wants to raise their own chickens for eggs and meat.
