This is a very old breed of chicken that sadly went out of favor after the Plymouth Rock became a recognized breed. The breed almost became extinct but are not keep by breeders trying to save the breed. The hens are very calm and easy to care for but sometimes the Roosters can be aggressive. The hens are setters so you can have them hatch their own eggs. The are good layers, grow to a decent size for meat and are excellent forager. They have a rose comb so they can take the cold very well without getting frostbitten.
