Dexters are the ideal choice of cattle for the small holder who has an reasonable acre of grass land.
They are easy to handle if you spend time with them. They are slow maturing so the quality of the meat is superior to most other breeds. Unless you wish to show your dexters the non short type are the most consistent breeders to type. Dexters do however need supplement feed in winter in the form of Hay or silage depending on how many dexters you wish to own. they also need some sort of shelter and dispite to some claims they will not live on fresh air. If you are thinking of buying a dexter always buy your first dexter from a reliable breeder as this way you will have help and advice along with your purchase. To learn more about this wonderful little breed why not visit my website at www.eagleridge-dexters.co.uk
