A Sad Situation
Yes, these are fantastic meat birds. If you get the Cornish Cross Broilers they will grow at insanely fast rates, however, the speed comes at a price.
If you aren't careful with rationing the amount of feed you give these birds, they will become too large too fast. Some don't handle their weight very well and in some situations, this can be fatal.
Always keep in mind that if you order/buy a broiler, these cannot be kept as pets. They are meant for butcher and if kept too long you will start to see them decline in health.
They are fantastic for a meat operation, but if you are looking to just raise a few meat birds for yourself, try something like a Rainbow Ranger. They grow fast, but not too fast and have more interest in foraging.
Personally, I just end up feeling bad for these birds. They are actually quite sweet.
