Sure Joel Salatin made the Cornish Cross popular with his book pastured poultry profits, but I am not a fan of this breed. Yes the Cornish cross is a quick grower with a great feed conversion rate but they have too many negatives to overcome.
Negatives are many: splayed legs, high moridity rate, lazy, don't tolerate heat, will sit in 100 degree heat and die instead of going into shade and drinking water, they trample each other to death, they can't grow to reach reproductive age.
All that said raising a few batches for your freezer is pretty easy if you get past about 10 percent dying for no reason. They will taste better than any grocery store chicken available.
