My experience about Cochin chicken

I have purchased these birds in particular for the brooding/raising chicks, as well as to decorate my farm since they look very nice. In fact, a variety of colors on them is what attracted me to this breed. I bought very small chickens of several days - 10 female and 2 male. Here are my observations for both hens and roosters.

The hens are neither meaty nor top layers, but they raise chickens very well (excellent mothers) and have a good temperament. The eggs are pretty small and they are light brown to white.

As regards the roosters, they are playful, super friendly and smart. They are not combative like some other roosters I had.

So, I'm quite satisfied with this chicken breed, as they are very nice birds, good mother, fluffy, friendly, and dedicated. On the other hand, the eggs are not big, the hens get broody for long periods, cannot get wet, and they are inclined to mites and lice.
