Cochin Chicken-Not for Old McDonald's Farm

Cochin Chickens are very beautiful birds. Their feathered legs and feet make them look like little walking fluff balls. They are very gentle, usually have a mild temper, and are easily handled. This having been said, I think they make wonderful pets, and horrible farm animals. They are great for beginner pet owners, or even for children wanting to learn more about poultry. They are not very good as "farm" animals as they do not lay eggs consistently, and when they do lay eggs, they are not very large eggs, in fact, they are rather small. They also do not provide enough meat to eat since they are so small and petite.

Good pet. Bad production animal.
