Gorgeous Quail!

King Quail are a great bird for many reasons:
They are a hardy, easy to breed bird so great for first time bird owners, they are compatible with a large variety of other birds (never had any problems), they are easy to feed and will forage the aviary floor for any leftover food, hindering mice or other pests, the babies are soooooo cute!
My quail loved access to very fine sand or dust to bathe in, and cover to hide in such as grass or shrubs. A really great idea for quail is to plant small bushes or dense grasses in your aviary, or collect branches of bushes with dense foliage and pile these in a way that the quail can enter the pile underneath.
Quail love to eat small insects, worms and fresh grass.
As these birds are ground dwellers, they are susceptible to predators such as snakes, and can suffer damage by mice at night (mice nibble the feathers while the birds sleep). Keep your aviary secure and check the birds and their environment often for evidence of damage or illness.
