Painted Quail

The painted quail is one of the most productive, beautiful, and friendly pets anyone could ever have. I breed their cousins, the Japanese Quail, for meat and eggs but these quail are raised as pets and sold to local shops. While not as productive as other coturnix breeds they make up for it with their adorable diminutive size, and child-friendly personalities. We've selectively bred ours for their coloration and have wound up with a bright sky blue body, with a crown of gold and scarlet. These birds are also known as King Quail for a reason! They're regal, and elegant. If you want a first pet for your children skip the hamsters, and goldfish; get a painted quail.
