I have a little group of six quail who live in the bottom of my aviary where they are excellent little bird vacuum cleaners, helping to collect up the waste seed thrown there by the other birds. Apart from their functionality, they are great little characters. There is nothing funnier than watching them running around whether to mate or to hide a particularly nice bit of food, like a stray worm. They can make the occasional loud sounds but most of their calls are quiet chattering between themselves. I even have one who is completely blind but manages to do his male duties! They do lay a lot of eggs and haven't had much success in incubating them but hopefully that will happen in time. They also live in complete contentment with the two rabbits and share food bowls with no arguments at all.
