Don't get attached.

My advice to anyone looking to raise sheep on a farm of any size, don't get attached to your sheep. We had a little hobby farm meant for fun and a little bit of income by selling eggs, wool, and lamb meat. We did very well for ourselves, but our biggest problems was us and the children getting attached to the lambs meant for the butcher. Sheep are very easy to fall in love with, and very hard to let go once you have named them, cared for them, and petted them like any other pet. So this is a warning to all sheep owners, if they are meant for the butcher, keep as detached as you can while still caring for the animal.
