Cayugas are very beautiful ducks due to the iridescent sheen on their glossy black feathers. They do get white feathers as they age, making them less suitable for showing very long, but they are so placid and easy to handle that it makes up for it.
I don't know how well they lay as I only had one male, but I believe they are meant to be okay layers - not the best, but definitely not the worst either.
For commercial use, they would be difficult to process to a grocery-bought standard due to their dark pigmentation.
But if you are just growing ducks for home use or pleasure, then the cayuga would be a great choice.
