I was a Buckeye babysitter

My sister has a hobby farm complete with chickens, cows, bees, and an awesome herb and vegetable garden.

She has since transitioned to all Buckeye chickens because she loves that they are both layers and good eaters. (And I don't mean they have hearty appetites, which is true, but rather they are good on your supper plate.)

They have a rather large coup but have free run of the yard as well. I happen to think they're a pretty breed, shiny dark feathers and perfectly round bodies. They aren't too flappy when I'm around, like some of her previous chickens, and seem content pecking and laying.

I've yet to catch on to the hobby farm lifestyle but, if I do, I'd definitely add Buckeyes to my list of must buys.
