I worked with Buckeyes from the time I was born until the age of 13. My mother mostly worked the coups. These chickens can be somewhat aggressive if aggravated, but the only time I have ever seen them to that point was when we introduced a game rooster into the pen.
-Produce a moderate amount of eggs, but they do not defend them against snakes.
- Mostly friendly, safe around children (I was in the pens when I was 5 years old until 13).
- Meat is fairly tasty
-They can survive heat very well. We raised chickens in Texas heat and never had one die of heat stroke.
- Very noisy
- For some reason attract owls, which will behead them.
- Do not defend their eggs
