Cattle farm experience

I had the chance to do some work experience as part of my studies on a diary farm quite a few years ago. From the different breeds of cattle they had, I found that the Swiss Brown were the easiest and friendliest to work with. The animals are very calm and relaxed and are easy to look after. I was quite apprehensive with the milking equipment to start with as I haven't had much practice before, but with the Brown Swiss cows it was completely hassle free.

They are also beautiful animals, with strong legs and bodies. They seemed to withstand the summer heat with ease and I was also told that they are quite resilient and cope well with the cold in the winter too.

So if you are interested in working or owning cattle, I'd definitely recommend this breed. Very easily manageable and great fun to be around. If you don't mind the very specific farm smell - it will stay with you all the time while you are there. But that's part of the fun too!
