Brown Swiss Cattle

Brown Swiss cattle are my favorites to own. They are very docile and easy to handle if you work with the young stock. The cows give a lot of milk. I had one cow give 100 pounds of milk a day. Cows that give that much milk sell for a lot of money at auction. As far as beef goes, the bulls weigh over a ton on average. The cows around 1500. The beef isn't as marbled as some and so the beef prices aren't as good. However, their milk often as a higher fat content than any other breed, which makes up for the lower beef prices.
The heifer often have less calving issues than other breeds, as well. So far, I've been very pleased with all of the animals I've owned and worked with of this breed.
