The Brown Swiss breed is known for sound feet and legs, an excellent trait if you are pasturing these cattle. They are good milk producers and are nice, all around dairy cattle to work with.....BUT! Don't ever let a baby Brown Swiss nurse from the mother. You will never get it broken to bucket feeding. They are know for this little habit and will get you every time. They are the largest of the breeds, so if it's a family cow or small acreage situation, go for a smaller dairy breed. Don't fall for those big brown eyes and coat colors that pull you in. They didn't get to be this big by not eating and require a lot of feed.
