These chickens are great fun. They are some of the most curious animals I have ever owned and they are always up to mischief, so they are very entertaining and very inquisitive into just about anything that you are doing. They produce great eggs and they are pretty big as well so that is very big positive. I have marked down that they can deal with the cold weather, but when it has been cold there is a notable difference in their behaviour. They eat just about anything and are excellent foragers and spend a lot of time in the bushes looking for food. The only bad thing about this particular chicken breed is the occasional broody hen. It is not so much that it is an on-going issue, but when it is broody, you need to have a degree of responsibility to remove the hen from the eggs and make sure she is out exercising and eating. If there is no cockerel or you don't want chicks, then if she is left on the egg it will damage the chicken's health as she won't eat. A certain level of education is required when taking on chicken's but this breed is ideal for a family. The chickens are very fun and ideal for children who are interested in animals and they also produce eggs very well.
