The Broad Breasted White is the first turkey I ever owned. We raised it just for meat and to see what processing a turkey would be like. We mostly kept it in the coop and fed it.
-Broad Breasted Whites are the best bird for meat
- Ours did not require much handling
- She played nice with the chickens ( I don't know if a Tom would)
- It was a great bird to learn to process
- The meat had less "pours" than i've seen on other turkeys
There aren't really any cons to this bird it. I don't know if i speak for everyone but ours was a low maintenance bird. she pretty much took care of herself. Overall it was a great bird, the meat was there and it tasted great.
