Chickens are funny; you can't help but laugh at them. I got my chickens as chicks from a farm store. As chicks they are oh so cute and as grown hens, beautiful! Living in Colorado we get all sorts of weather and these chickens do great in everything Colorado throws at them! We have them in a chicken coop with a yard. In the summers they love to be out in the yard and lay a good amount of eggs for how many hens we have. In the winter we keep them to limited yard use and if it’s below 50 degrees, we have a heat lamp in their coop. I have noticed that during the winter on days we don't leave the lamp on for them, they don't lay as many eggs. Our chickens are pretty friendly and will linger around you whenever you go into their home. They are very loud, cackling throughout the day. Some of our chickens love to be petted and when stroked, lay on the ground cooing, loving every minute!
