I live on a lifestyle block and have a number of Border Leicester sheep, that I use to keep the grass down! They are great as pets, but greedy as and can eat quite a bit. Normally you'd need to have at least 450 to 500 sqm of lawn per sheep, but they feed too on vege leftovers, bread or sheep pellets. You won't get much for them commercially, probably around NZD$50 to $80 depending on season and age, but they make nice pets for a family with a good sized backyard.
