We bought a working farm, however, the people we bought the farm from made us promise that we were not going to kill the animals to eat. I found that odd, but whatever, I wasn't interested in doing that anyway. When we found out that we had 5 goats and two of them were boys and the rest girls, I was so excited, I was going to be able to get goat milk and make cheese. I had this vision that the goats would be our pets and everything would be great.
That didn't happen! The goats were EXTREMELY loud and obnoxious. They loved to try and break their barn. We let them out of the barn during the day to graze on the land but they didn't care any at all for fences, they would just jump over or figure out how to go through them, which they did. We had to pull one out of the septic tank.
Goats are a LOT more work than you would think! They smell too, or at least ours did. And the one time we were able to milk her, we got less than an ounce and she kicked the whole time.
