Boer Meat Goats

The Boer breed is a fantastic meat goat and produced a good size carcass. The white body with red head is easily recognizable in any herd. Overall these goats are easy to handle and work with. They are fairly hardy with parasites being a problem in purebred animals as well as poor hooves. Both of these negative traits can be countered through regular deworming and hoof trimming. But not all Boer goats need extensive care. Knowing your individual herd will help you determine what animals to treat. Keeping them on good quality pasture with plenty of room to roam and browse will help as well.
Overall the Boer breed is a great meat animal and will serve you well in a commercial herd, especially crossed with other quality animals.
