We had two Black Sex Links in our first flock (11-year-old me named them Jenny and Star), and they turned out to be awesome, incredibly docile birds who were fantastic egg layers.
First of all, sex-linking is amazing, and it's so nice to know that you're guaranteed to get a hen. These girls were great free-rangers and they got along great with birds from a variety of other breeds.
One of them died suddenly when she was only one or two years of age, but the other lived closer to six years. They continued laying throughout their life, and they would show mild broodiness periodically, but they were easily discouraged.
Overall, a great bird that I would highly recommend!
