These hens are among the more hardy hens I've had, being quite bulky and are great dual purpose birds. My bunch in their first year plopped out around 250 eggs and their decrease in the previous two has not dropped by much, when compared to other utility birds.
They do have more of a sense of adventure which has cost the lives of two of mine by wondering off down the fields, where a very hungry fox was lurking in the middle of the day. They can also be a great tasting bird depending if you go down the commercial route, which I don't, but I eat a lot of chicken; they taste good. Also don't get too close or rush these when they're laying or will get a peck from these overly protective chooks.
