My granny live at countryside and have a small farm, where she keeps livestock and poultry. Her favourite pigs are Berkshires, so she rearing only this pigs for past 5 years. Berkshires meat is tasty, tender and juicy. The layer of fat is thin. This breed safely tolerate harsh winters, if give them a thick bed of straw . Berkshires have fun and good nature, they are intelligent and cleanly. With proper maintenance and feeding of Berkshires pigs have excellent health. They almost never get sick because they have strong immunity to many pigs' diseases.
Cons of Berkshires pigs are quite a bit, and they are insignificant. The main thing is to protect the animals from the draft and to give them food that is suitable for their digestion. Berkshires pigs poorly digested roughage, so it is better to cook a thick porridge of crushed corn.
