Camelia was one of the few chickens I kept as pets. I bought her from a professional hatchery and owned her since day one. I was looking at owning some chickens as pets and the Belgian Bearded d'Uccle breed really appealed to me. They are really pretty chickens. Not only that, I learned that they are really friendly and easy to take care of. Since Camelia was a little smaller than the other chickens growing up around her, I paid special attention to her. Because of this, I formed a bond with her that I've achieved with any other chicken yet. Camelia is practically not a chicken when it comes to handling her! That is, she will come to me the second she sees me approaching. She will hang around me and "socialize." Overall, I've had a phenomenal experience with the d'Uccle breed, and especially with Camelia. I recommend this breed not only for the looks, but for the possible "pet" status it can have. Lastly, I won the Meyer hatchery contest of 2011! Camelia was featured on the front cover of the hatcheries 2012 catalog! (see picture)
