Shorthorn beef cattle seem to be growing in popularity again. They are just an all around, solid breed of beef cattle that can thrive in a variety of conditions. They yield a heavily muscled carcass with a uniform finish. They seem to be popular with younger kids in 4-H, as they seem to be pretty calm in general. I've noticed a resurgence of this breed at our fair both in market animals and breeding stock. They have exhibited well at our county fair and are a good choice to incorporate into a commercial herd or hobby farm.
