Ayrshires are a nice family cow. They are moderate sized, good producers and are known to have good udders that hold up well for many years. They have a long productive life. They make a nice 4-H project, especially for younger members because of that moderate size. Typically, they are mild mannered, gentle and good natured but you can always find one that doesn't live up to that standard. Because of their reputation for good udders, they typically do well in the 4-H show ring.
