I would say that Austrolorps are the average chicken. Depending on how well they are trained and if they are hand-raised, they CAN be a good breed for children, but most often not. They are a bit aggressive, especially when you dont feed them enough (at least once/twice a day). They do have great foraging skills, and half of my pets' diet was when they escaped, and went through all my plants for the worms! I havent tried eating the chickens, so I wouldn tknow their meant quality, but my dog did find them tasty...lol. They do lay two eggs each daily, if I remember correctly, and they are usually a very light brown/cream colour. I find them to be very playful despite the aggressiveness, often climbing out of the cage up the wire walls, or escaping and running around everywhere ( a fast chicekn too, mind you.)

My overll experience was satisfactory.
