This breed was among the first chickens I owned, and they worked well for me. They are very friendly. One of mine was maimed by a predator and I nursed her back to health. She became pretty much a pet and would follow me around like a puppy and perch on my shoulder. The breed as a whole lays pretty, large eggs consistently. I really like the blue-black tint to their feathers. The only minus I would note is that they aren't good free-rangers and don't eat scraps as readily as other kinds. They prefer their grain.
