A Punk Rocker of a Chicken

A devil chicken, with two horns rather than a comb. Spiky "hair" and wild, staring eyes, he was a dead-ringer for Johnny Rotten. Very aggressive toward other cockerels, Johnny was very attention and caring for his girls. Always foraging, he would call crazily for the hens to come to any food he found. He didn't like the girls being separated and would run frantically to and fro between the cliques at different ends of the paddock. Come feeding time, Johnny would fly up to the house gate a call for us to come and do our duty. Johnny took his job seriously and worked hard.
Three weeks ago, we had a fox raid. A fox had caught one hen by her tail: Johnny attacked and the fox had to let go - but got Johnny instead. The ultimate sacrifice by a glorious, splendid rooster. R.I.P., Johnny.
