Angus vs. Everything Else

Black Angus cattle have quickly become the nation's top beef cattle breed, overtaking the mighty Hereford. Angus cattle are known as great beef producers, but not as much as everyone seems to think. Marketing has more of a role in the Angus dominance than animal perfection. Restaurants and commercial beef companies claim that the beef is so much different, but in reality 99% of people would not be able to tell the difference in a side-by-side taste comparison. But, ranchers are enjoying the higher profits caused by this public misunderstanding, so Black is the new "in" thing, and won't be going away any time soon. I sometimes get tired of all the black cattle in our herd, but cannot complain about the great prices that we get at auction. Overall, they are great animals to have, but also very boring.
