The animal in question was a 4H project steer. He was the first of two Angus steers (second project was a Red Angus). He was very easy-going until it came time to halter break him. He was not the easiest to break, but once in the ring did fairly well. He gained weight consistently and aside from a mild case of ringworm was very healthy. His disposition was relatively quiet, but once among other people and animals he was easily spooked. It was a lesson learned for us for the following year; have more people around and a lot more noise. No pussy-footing around animals is better in the event of them being exposed to crowds.
